Scope & Content A detailed inventory of the equipment and property for the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus most likely created to assign valuation to circus property after the Hartford Fire of July 6, 1944. This list provides a nearly complete listing of every article found on the circus lot by department including the Train Department, Gorilla Department, Commissary, Medical Department, Wardrobe Department, Big Top Department, Big Top Band, Tailoring Department, Side show, Ring Stock Department, Wagon and Blacksmith Department, Elephant Department, Erection and Maintenance of Dressing Room and Property Department, Kitchen, Harness Department, Horse Shoe Department, Menagerie Department, Sound Department, Front End Light Department, Big Top Light Plant, and Back Yard Light Plant.

The list also includes inventories for the contents of numerous wagons (including office and ticket wagons), and railroad sleeping coaches. The inventory also accounts for various types of tent stakes, trucks, tractors, cars, privately owned horses, show horses found on the circus lot as well as properties of Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus in use with Alfred Court's Wild Animals Inc.

Of special note is an inventory of property lost in the fire of July 6, 1944 at Hartford, Connecticut.
